Security guards shoot and kill guy in a truck on New Year’s Eve in Dallas, Texas.

Two security guards are charged with murder following a shooting early New Year’s Day, leaving a 34-year-old man dead. The shooting occurred at 2:56 a.m. in a parking lot servicing XTC Cabaret, which is a nude adult club located at 8500 N. Stemmons Freeway.

The parking lot is being used as overflow parking for the nightclub which is hosting a New Year’s Eve event. Several unarmed and armed security officers, from the neighboring nightclub, intervene and attempt to stop Jason Hill from getting into his white pick-up truck. Jason Hill backs up and attempts to leave, ignoring their commands.

Security officers Daterrious Haggard, 25, and Eric Hansen, 27, allegedly fire their weapons multiple times into Hill’s truck. Hill is shot and crashes into several parked vehicles before dying. He was shot more than 20 times.

Haggard and Hansen are detained by police.

After being read their Miranda rights, they both waive those rights by agreeing to speak with detectives. They both admit firing their weapon at the victim. During the course of the investigation, detectives are made aware of and review a video circulating on social media that captures a significant portion of the incident. Based on their interview, the social media video and witness testimony, Haggard and Hansen were both arrested and will be charged with murder.
